Call title: Developing Leaders

Closing date: 18 December 2017

Call title: Future Peninsula Round 2

Closing date: 18 December 2017

Two new European Social Fund calls are now open, making funding available for projects which focus on developing leadership skills in the workforce and supporting those furthest from employment towards work.   This funding is part of the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Growth Programme of economic regeneration for the region from 2014-2020.

Developing Leaders

Approximately £1.5m is available through the Developing Leaders call which invites applications for projects that focus on upskilling the workforce and developing strong public and private sector leadership capabilities.  This will enable people to progress in their careers and, in turn, support economic growth.

Specifically, the call aims to create a Developing Leaders project that will target those who are in employment or have recently been made redundant, in both the public and private sectors.  The call aims to create opportunities for learning that meet the needs of the individual, but also contribute to the needs of the organisations they work for.

Full details of the call can be found in the Developing Leaders call specification.

Future Peninsula 2

The second call, Future Peninsula 2, seeks projects that will use innovative methods to support people who are furthest from the labour market towards or into work.   Approximately £7.8m is available through this call.

Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly faces issues of low wages combined with high living costs which can lead to debt, financial instability and high levels of deprivation in some areas.  These issues affect individuals’ ability to progress and also the economy’s ability to grow.

This call seeks applications to develop collaborative and innovative solutions that address the challenges of high household costs, low earnings, household income, employability, poverty and debt.  It is looking for projects that will undertake ‘active research’, involving communities and individuals, to develop activities to address these issues.

Full details of the call can be found in the Future Peninsula Round 2 call specification.

Councillor Bob Egerton, Cornwall Council’s Portfolio Holder for Economy said, “Education, skills and training are key factors in an economy’s growth and productivity. By creating opportunities for individuals to develop their skills and overcome barriers to work these investments will not only strengthen the economy of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, but also help people achieve their full potential and generate more inclusive economic growth.”
