Call to run a project to develop collaborative and innovative solutions that will help identify, engage and support individuals furthest from the labour market.
Funding of up to £4.4m is available for a project will engage economically inactive and unemployed people and enable them to progress into employment or wider employability programmes in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly (C&IoS).
The funding comes from the European Social Fund (ESF) and forms part of the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Growth Programme which aims to deliver economic regeneration for the region from 2014-2020.
Employment, education and skills are major factors in promoting social and economic inclusion and combating poverty. In Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly (C&IoS) work is ongoing to tackle the key issues of a low wage, high living cost economy and enable people in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to look forward to a more inclusive society, with an innovative approach to problem solving and providing individuals and families with a better balance between income and cost.
There are now a wide range of ESF funded projects and mainstream opportunities delivered through (C&IoS) for individuals to gain relevant work related employment and skills opportunities. However, it is difficult for individuals to identify the right option and support that will enable them to access and progress through their chosen programme.
Through this call it is expected that the projects funded will become a new “Talent Pipeline” that provide guidance to individuals and support them in accessing the current ESF funded and mainstream projects available. In offering signposting as well as wraparound support to economically inactive and unemployed people facing particular difficulties, including, but not only, disability, the overall aim of the project will be to enable participants to progress into employment or wider employability programmes (mainstream or ESF) and thus develop a more inclusive labour market within C&IoS.
