ESF Call For Proposals: Deadline 29th August, 2019

£4.4m European Funding: Talent Pipeline

Call title – Talent Pipeline – OC05S19P1433

Download the full funding specification- call specification

Call to run a project to develop collaborative and innovative solutions that will help identify, engage and support individuals furthest from the labour market.

Funding of up to £4.4m is available for a project will engage economically inactive and unemployed people and  enable them to progress into employment or wider employability programmes in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly (C&IoS).

The funding comes from the European Social Fund (ESF) and forms part of the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Growth Programme which aims to deliver economic regeneration for the region from 2014-2020.

Employment, education and skills are major factors in promoting social and economic inclusion and combating poverty. In Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly (C&IoS) work is ongoing to tackle the key issues of a low wage, high living cost economy and  enable people in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to look forward to a more inclusive society, with an innovative approach to problem solving and providing individuals and families with a better balance between income and cost.

There are now a wide range of ESF funded projects and mainstream opportunities delivered through (C&IoS) for individuals to gain relevant work related employment and skills opportunities. However, it is difficult for individuals to identify the right option and support that will enable them to access and progress through their chosen programme.

Through this call it is expected that  the projects funded will  become a  new “Talent Pipeline” that provide guidance to individuals and support them in accessing the current ESF funded and mainstream projects available. In offering signposting as well as wraparound support to economically inactive and unemployed people facing particular difficulties, including, but not only, disability, the overall aim of the project will be to enable participants to progress into employment or wider employability programmes (mainstream or ESF) and thus develop a more inclusive labour market within C&IoS.

ESF Call For Proposals: Deadline 18th July, 2019

£5.5m European Funding Call: Skills for Growth-Business Clusters project

Call title – Skills for Growth:Business Clusters project OC05S19P1388

Closing Date – 18 July 2019

Download the full funding specification- call specification

Funding of up to £5.5m is available to further develop a bespoke Skills Access Hub in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly (C&IoS). The funding comes from the European Social Fund and forms part of the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Growth Programme which aims to deliver economic regeneration for the region from 2014-2020.

This call seeks applications that will deliver an employer led approach to improve the labour market relevance of skills provision for local business clusters. Clusters could, for example, focus on a geographical area, a supply chain model and/or industry type. It will directly engage employers to identify and address their skills needs; to be more involved in designing, delivering and enhancing the labour market relevance of education and training systems for their workforce. The aim is to support uptake of skills provision which in turn will enable business growth.

This could include building the capacity of SMEs and micro companies to provide project/placement/internship/ apprenticeship opportunities.

Creating the skilled workforce needed to increase economic growth and improve productivity is a priority for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly (C&IoS). There is a need to further invest in supporting our businesses to develop the skills base of their employees in order to close the gap with national average skills levels.

The focus of any proposed project must relate to ‘business needs’ that are ‘employer identified’ with the beneficiary businesses being those involved in the project.

Applicants should seek to work across industry and business clusters to identify common skills demands and shortages with a view to the development of skills training and development that will support a range of business in the region with the objective to improving the labour market relevance of education and training systems, facilitating the transition from education to work, and strengthening vocational education and training systems and their quality.
