A groundbreaking project to provide new, high quality employment space in Falmouth has commenced.  The project will provide an extension to the existing site at Bickland Industrial Park on Bickland Water Road.

The project represents the first speculative employment space development in Falmouth for many years and is aimed at the small and medium sized enterprise (SME) business community in the area.

The new development is thanks to a major private sector investment undertaken by Falmouth Developments Ltd, which has secured up to £3.4m of grant funding from the European Regional Development Fund as part of the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Growth Programme.

The Bickland site represents the only new employment site in Falmouth and Penryn, which therefore presents a major opportunity for those local businesses seeking to expand or relocate.  The units are available on a freehold basis and the development is due for completion in December 2018.  The main contractor undertaking the design and construction of the project is Midas Construction Ltd.

The project has a total cost of £7.3m and will create 4444m2 of new, high quality, employment space.  This will comprise of up to, 17 hybrid office/industrial units between 202m2 to and 514m2 in size.  The buildings are being constructed to Breeam excellent standard and include high environmental credentials including sustainability of design, use of materials and renewable energy.  The units have in built flexibility to be combined to make larger units subject to demand from local SMEs and individual occupier requirements.
