This event has been postponed until late summer/early September – please look out for the new date which will be publicised soon.
Join the Growth Programme for some more stimulating talks and discussions with funded partner organisations sharing their journey to sustainability and inclusion.
As the call for more sustainable and inclusive practices is spreading across the UK and more widely across the globe, the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Growth Programme has invited partner organisations to share their experience.
Learning directly from local organisations “who’ve walked the walk”, the event will feature projects and businesses funded through the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) that are demonstrating exemplary delivery in the fields of sustainable development and inclusivity, also referred to as the cross-cutting themes*.
The ambition for this event is to present replicable working practices, provide practical tips and help local organisations maximise their impact and make a positive difference.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions to the panel of guest speakers in the second part of the event.
Sue Patton – Programme Manager for the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Growth Programme and cross-cutting themes specialist.
Judith Hann – Project Manager for Community Led Local Development. ESIF Funded programme offering grants to innovative projects throughout Cornwall, aiming to strengthen opportunities for people and enable business to grow.
Ruth Gripper – Knowledge Exchange Officer for The Inclusivity Project. A research and innovation project led by the University of Exeter and funded by ERDF aiming to increase diversity, wellbeing and prosperity within small, Cornish businesses.
Jen Andrews – Head of Social Innovation at Newquay Orchard, which is delivering the ESF funded Sustainable Lives project.

- Insight/access to professionals and speakers championing sustainability and inclusion
- Opportunity to find out about projects supporting Cornish businesses and individuals

* Explanatory note on Cross Cutting themes
The Cross Cutting Themes (CCTs) form integral and extremely important components in administering European funds. The CCTs are defined as:
- Sustainable Development
- Equal Opportunities and Non-discrimination.
These themes, together, consider the natural environment and the human environment in a holistic manner and are embedded from the initial design and development phase of a project, through to project delivery and beyond. Projects that are supported with EU funding are required to deliver good and best practices above legal baselines where possible.
